Joseph Olchefske holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree from Harvard University. He has been a leader in the educational community for twenty years, holding significant for-profit, non-profit and public sector educational institution executive positions.
HIghlights include his role as Chief Executive Officer of Flex Academies, a Washington, D.C. based after-school program provider. He also previously served as President of three different companies in K-12 learning: Calvert Education Services, a 107-year-old Baltimore-based curriculum company; Mosaica Online, Mosaica Education’s online learning division; and Educate Online, an online tutoring company affiliated with Sylvan Learning Systems. As Superintendent of Seattle Public Schools from 1998 to 2003, Joseph was accountable for more than 47,000 students, 100 schools, 7,000 employees and a $435 million annual operating budget.
